Your learning data

Begin Chinese stores saved words, lesson answers, course progress, learned-word status, streaks, coins, shields, display preferences, and reminder settings on your device. Practice sessions are held in memory. The app has no account system or cloud sync service.

Data collection and sharing

Begin Chinese does not send your learning data to the developer. The app contains no advertising, tracking, analytics SDK, or third-party transcription service. It does not access your microphone, camera, photos, contacts, or location.

Audio and reminders

Pronunciation uses Apple's system speech service. Voice availability and any system voice downloads are managed by iOS. Optional study reminders are local notifications. You can disable them in the app or iPhone Settings.

Free access

All learning content is free. The app does not offer in-app purchases or subscriptions, request product prices, or check purchase entitlements.

Device backups and deletion

Your device's backup settings may include app data in an Apple-managed backup. Begin Chinese does not operate a backup server. Delete the app to remove its local learning data from the device; offloading the app may retain data. Manage device backups separately in Apple settings.

External links

Opening a publisher, support, or privacy website takes you to an external service with its own privacy practices. That service may receive normal connection information such as your IP address. Learning progress is not attached to these links.

Changes

Review this policy after an app update. Any future account, analytics, or other data service would require an updated policy and privacy disclosures.

Contacting support

If you choose to email support, the recipient receives the information you include and uses it to respond. Email delivery and storage are handled by the chosen email provider. Avoid including sensitive personal information unless needed for your request. Contact: beginchinese.support@proton.me. The support mailbox is hosted by Proton Mail.

This website

These support and privacy pages are hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare processes normal request information, such as IP addresses and browser information, to deliver and secure the website. No advertising or analytics scripts are included in these pages. Website requests do not include your app learning progress.
